An Everyday Guy Who Wants Everyday People to Enjoy Playing Poker.

I fell in love with the game of Poker as a teenager. I would watch intently over my father's shoulder while he and his hunting companions shuffled and dealt cards, bet quarters and exchanged good-natured ribbing. Many years later I realized that much of what I learned during those countless hours of observation and play is not necessarily common knowledge among recreational Poker players – especially now that so many newcomers are taking up the game.

There are many aspects of Poker that are confusing to everyday players. Odds are, if you’ve ever played recreational Poker, someone at the table—maybe even you—asked something like, “Does a straight beat a flush?” That’s because before now, there was no definitive how-to guide to help novices learn the game and experienced players improve their game.

My passion for recreational Poker, and the fact that most published materials seemed geared toward “Vegas-wanna-bes,” led me to create
The Everyday Guide to Recreational Poker for the rest of us. Those who long for the days of the Friday night basement Poker tournament among friends. Those who are ready to move beyond Texas Hold ‘Em to discover hundreds of challenging new games. Those who want nothing more than to improve their skills, create a better table experience and gain a little “one-upmanship” on their buddies—all while having a great time. The Everyday Guide to Recreational Poker is the resource you’ve waited for. I hope it will help you and your friends learn to appreciate Poker as the constantly challenging, continuously evolving game it was meant to be.

I read through most of your book on poker on a plane flight this week. Outstanding job! I found many new games, and some that I have played but forgotten about, so I am sure that I will get a great deal of use from the book."
